Smart Spring Cleaning...
S is for Specific: What is it you want to achieve? An amount of weight, drop a jean size, get into that favorite dress? Whatever it is note it down and put it where you can see it on a daily basis.
A is for Achievable : Is it possible, can you do it or is the goal too wild you will lose impetus before you have reached your target. It needs to be stretching and worth your effort. So dropping a jeans size in most people books is achievable providing you have enough body fat surplus to requirements. However, getting healthier is also an underpinning achievement.
R is for Realistic: Your goal of course has to be realistic. Losing 3 stone would be a little unrealistic is not unheard of but for many this may be a little unrealistic in the first 28 days. However, if you have plenty of weight to loose then a more realistic goal may be to loose between 8 lbs and 15lbs in weight. In my case a Spring Clean is probably more realistic.
T is for Time-bound: It is an important step to set a time-bound period for reaching your goal. Without this boundary in place there is no sense of urgency and it would be easy to become distracted from your goal. By setting a date of when you want to reach your goal it helps you to focus towards your success in our case we have set a time-boundary of 28 days from the 12th of April. To complete our SMART Spring Clean towards our weight-loss and health improvement program.
If you would like to join our group or simply start your own Smart Spring Clean why don't you order yours with 20% off it's a great boost to Kick Start your weight management program. The 12th Day of Health and Fitmass
The countdown to Christmas has begun and to get into the festive mood we have launched our annual Health and Fitmass online blog Advent Calendar, packed to the top of it's christmas stocking with exclusive offers.
On the 12th Day of Fitmass Active Edge Solutions said to me, there is a trerrfic 20% off Fat Grabbers and Carb Grabbers today. An ideal stocking filler for those that wish to cheat a little over the Festive Season. That's right have your carb charged Christmas Cake, stollen and yule log and eat it not that we want to encourage you.
Reduce Carb Digestion
Many studies have shown that a reduction in dietary crabohydrates os associated with weigjhtloss and the preservation of lean skeletal muscle. As a result many people are trying to reduce thier carbohydrate intake. For those that choose particulary high crab loaded meals this Christmas, Carbo grabbers have been formulated to reduce the negative effects of those bad carbs by reducing the carbohydrate digestions. Carbo grabbers uses an extract called from the white kidney bean, which inhibits amylase production, reducing the digestion and absorption of food startches.

Carbo Grabbers (60)Fat Trappers
If you want to reduce your fat intake this christmas from a meal or the numerous parties this festive season at home, office parties, friends, neighbours and you are unsure of the fat content of your festive fayre, the Fat Grabbers is the supplement to choose. This safe, digestive aid is designed to assist with weight management by breaking down and trapping hidden dieatary fat, this prevents it being absorbed unnecessairly by the body.

Nordic Walking Launch & the Greeniversity...
What an amazing few weeks we have had from January to February! Nordic Walking is taking the interests of both men and women wanting try an even better activity for health and fitness.

January, saw the launch of Active Edge Solutions Learn to Nordic Walk in Werrington centre in Peterborough. The first class was held at Werrington Sports Centre on the 21st of January. This launch has has caught those keen to try the activity and over the weeks more and more people have been attending the class to find out more about Nordic Walking and find out why it is a better alternative to the conventional gyms, normal walking and high impact sports like running.
This fantastic group of Novice Nordic Walkers have been simply amazing turning up on nights when the weather has been cold, dark and damp. You may ask what Nordic walking has meant to them, it has been a lot of fun, they have met new people and made new friends. It is a place where you can go and walk with company even during the dark nights.

Now the nights are starting to draw out, there is nothing that these walkers will not be able to face. There is much to look forward to, improving technique, getting fitter, preparing for a challenge. One of the students suggested we train for the Breast Cancer Race for Life, how amazing will that be. Nordic Walking can help those recovering from cancer to improve muscle tone in the shoulder and improve well being. It will be great to get out in the daylight and have more fun outdoors, where we can connect with nature, enjoy woodlands and wildlife.
On the 27th of February, the Active Edge Solutions connected with the Greeniversity and Woodfield park to deliver the first Nordic Taster session. It was well attended and the universe provide a dry day which helped to make this event a success the students with an enjoyable class, and to see Woodfield park and wildlife in the daylight hours. The class was full to bursting, with greeniversity students eager to try their new green skills.

Nordic On Walking
Last night in cool temperatures Peterborough people just got Nordic on Walking, at Werrington Sports Centre. Despite the fact it was cool the group remained high in spirits as the took their first Nordic Steps. The group set to get grips with their poles and learn a new physical activity called Nordic Walking. Their energy, enthusiasm and determination was second to none as they ventured out with their poles and paws. These fantastic Nordic novices were keen to improve their general fitness, tone up, and manage their weight. It is all too easy to pile on the pounds through lack of physical activity. Some activites like walking and running use lower body muscles which can lead to muscular imbalance. Nordic Walking uses up to 90% of all skeletal muscle providing the body a great workout for the entire body. It can burn off up to 46% more calories than normal walking. Making it an effective in helping to improve weight management. One member had been wanting to try Nordic for ages and was highly delighted with the instruction, quality of poles and starting to learn more about how this low impact activity can reduce stress on the joints, and have big results. This has certainly filled a gap for Nordic novices where other high impact sports such as running have left a hole due high stess on the knees, hips and back. Well done to all the novices that just got Nordic on Walking, you have successfully taken your first steps to better health and fitness.

Effective Healthy Starter...
Speaking to sports, fitness and weight management enthusiast on a recent morning cycle ride of 50+ miles brought home the ever increasing importance of starting the day healthily.
When seeking to loose weight, at the moment, there are many of ways starting your day which are seemingly healthy (take for example a bowl of porridge it is low in glycemic index, which releases its energy slowly, passes through your gastric tract slowly, making you feel fuller for longer).
So, how do you make a good breakfast choice even better to improve the chances of weight loss? The old saying " if you do what you have always done, you will get what you always got" does have some truth.
You need to know you can make a change, whatever that might be. It is those small incremental changes that leads to a greater cumulative change. The "you always got" gives you the same results, this is not resulting in your weight loss.
This is where alternative approaches can come in and subtle changes can be made to help you acheive the results you are looking for. Getting into that little black dress or tux for the christmas party, looking wonderful in your wedding gown, superb in your suit, or gaining a personal best time in your next sporting event.
If the thought of making change scares you, or interests you and you would like to know more about making changes to your current weight management programme and making it even better. For further guidance in making change to your current approach to weight management, you can contact Sue Burnett, visit her contacts page at: http://www.activeedgesolutions.co.uk/
