British Nordic Walk Fun & Games at the BIG GREEN LUNCH!

British Nordic Walk Fun & Games at the BIG GREEN LUNCH!

On Sunday 3rd June Greeniversity teachers are being offered the chance to take a prime place at the Big Green Lunch. The Big Green Lunch is part of the Green Festival and is its second largest event.  This year it will be held at Itter Park on Fulbridge Road between 11am and 6pm the event will be home to a great range of arts and crafts producers, charities, wellbeing ‘tasters’, food stalls and cookery demonstrations.

Right in the middle of Walton and Paston, Itter Park will host the very first Green Festival event in this area of the city. It will be a great way to encourage people to participate with the Greeniversity. This event ties in with Big Lunch events and Jubilee Celebrations nationwide.

Active Edge Solutions joins other Greeniversity teachers who together have a huge variety of skills and what better way to share that wealth of experience than at an event designed to show off the very best of Peterborough’s Green Scene.

You are invited to come along and share in the Best of British Nordic Walk fun and games. Sign up for British Nordic Walk Fun and Games at the Big Green Lunch and help put Peterborough and on the map as the best Big Lunch in the UK!

Reducing Toxic Overload

Every winter many people suffer from coughs, colds and flu like symptoms that seem to linger on and on. Often this can be a sign of the body trying to rid itself of waste and toxic overload.

Reducing Toxic Overload

Early this year I attended a seminar run by Saira Salmon a highly accredited nutritionist where she explained more about toxic overload in todays world and what it would do to the body if left unchecked. Stress, CHD, high cholestorol, diabetes, strokes to name but a few insidious diseases that can be avoided by building up our body's defenses.

'Toxic Overload' A body full of toxins will lower the immune systems and provide an ideal environment for bacteria, parasites and eventual disease.

Also, many people's diets are low in fibre, which often creates irregular and infrequent bowel movements adding to the bodys toxic overload.

Toxic overload is caused by what we are exposed to in the atmposphere, what is sprayed on the crops, what we ingest through through our skin, what we ingest through our food and water, the products we use on our hair and body. Toxins are everywhere, in the air and in our water, medication can be toxic too, e.g. amalgum fillings removals are handled as toxic waste, there is not much respite.

Exposure to active people can be even greater than sedentary people when it comes to atmospherics and how many people do you know say I do not like the taste of water? Do you remember the Camelford disaster when toxic chemical waste was emptied into drinking water by mistake?

There several stages of reducing and eliminating toxins from the body and our lives to help decrease toxic overload. Saira had undergone the process herself and it wasn't until she started to cleanse her body that she realised the extend of damage it had caused. Today she helps many people to restore their health through better nutrition and healthier eating and is a great advocate of Nature Sunshine Products to help restore the body's balance.

Toxins are stored in many parts of the body therefore it is important to use a detox to cleanse the entire body. Help is at hand, the healthy starter pack is a unique 10 day herbal detox designed to cleanse the body of celluar waste.

Healthy Starter Program. The first step to a healthier you is to start by eliminating waste and toxins before building up your body's defenses. This consists of three products effective 10 day healthy starter pack, liquid chlorophyll and bifidophilus Flora Force this program is a great way to begin your detoxing process and it can also help to increase your resistance to disease.

  1. Healthy Starter Pack
  2. Liquid Chlorophyll
  3. Bifidophilus Flora Force

Effective Ten Day Healthy Starter Pack

Health specialists across the world recommend a unique 10 day herbal detox called the Healthy starter pack. This effective detox is easy to take alongside a normal healthy diet. Results are better if you omit red meat, alcohol and caffeine from your diet during the 10 days. Health experts recommend this program 2-3 times a year to give your body a periodic 'spring clean'. Drink plenty of water with the detox to flush out toxins. Half way through the program many people expercience a heightened sense of wellbeing and a increased level of energy. DO NOT Detox if you are pregnant or very ill. This is not recommended for children.

Liquid Chlorophyl
A refreshing 'minty' tasting drink, add 1 teaspoon to a glass of water. Enjoy an array of health benefits, natural cleansing of blood, deodorising, antioxident and support to the healthy starter pack.

Bifidophilus Flora Force - Probiotics, feel good on the inside.

Health specialists recommend the use of a Probiotic supplement after detoxing, and following a course of medication like antibiotics, which can delete the body's supply of friendly bacteria. Factor such as stress, disease, environmental conditions or the use of certain medicine can harm these friendly bacteria. Prescribed antibiotics practically wipe out these beneficial bacterium.

This highly effective probiotic is designed to replenish your friendly flora (friendly bacteria). It contains vitamins for the body and plays an important role in supporting your immune system against disease and to aid digestion and absorption of nutrients and food. When you finish the 10 day detox, take bifidophilus (non-milk) for one month to replenish your friendly flora.

Here is to your better health this winter, may all your activities be friendly and fun.

Nordic Walking is seen to be Green

Nordic walking is an environmentally friendly and helps you to improve your well being too. Discover what is in it for you. Whether you want to make new friends, have more fun or learn something new. There will be something that is right for you.

Nordic Walking is seen to be a greener activity. Unlike other cardiovascular machines, it does not use any electricity to run the equipment and it generates it's own energy levels without making demands of fossil fuels. This week there are taster sessions available on Thursday the 6th of May at 17:45 until 18:15. Try out this green activity for free and be seen to be greener in your cardio work out. You will meet new like minded people who are willing to challenge their status quo and try a new activity. To register your place, visit : www. greeniversity.org.uk

Nordic Walking - New Territories

It was Thursday, our regular Nordic Walk night, 6.30pm. The would be Nordic walkers gathered in the car park at Werringtion Sports Centre, keen, ready and willing to walk. After the initial health checks that everyone was fit to go, no new aches, pains or illnesses we were ready to warm up. Poles in hand and ready for some Nordic Action.

Into the unknown the Nordic walkers went, the evening was light and for some it was the first lit walk of the spring. Their Nordic Walking had started in the dreary dark dank days of January, February and March. So you can imagine the their delight as Cuckoo's Hollow came into view for the very first time. Mallards, moorhens and ducks skimming the water, bullrushs long tall and punching proud heads into the light bright spring night. We practiced some Nordic technique down by the waters edge, not too close swimming was not on the agenda.

On we walked along a leafy wooded track, which blotted out the estate landscape. All we could hear was the point of the poles planting into the ground and the sounds of birds song lound and clear.

It became evident that the Nordic Walkers were delighted with the sights that came into view in the early evening light they remarked at how different it looked to what they had imagined on their damp dark and dank nights of the wintery months. The walk would not have been suitable for dark nights. Hence their joy, amazement and wonder. Even one of our group members who had lived in the area for 25 years was discovering new territories that he had not previously trod.

All too soon the time was marching on and we were approaching the end of the lesson and we had to return to the Sports centre. How far did we walk the group wondered. One lady had a watch with a garmin type device and she had plotted the route. 2.54 miles the walkers were delighted to have walked so far in such a short space of time. Energy levels increase the stresses and strains of the day had simply faded away. Everyone looking forward to the next one.

Do join us next time around, 6.30pm, Thursdays Werrington Centre. You will be pleasantly surprised, one Nordic Walker said " Sue can you find some more walkers to join us?" To which I replied "I will do my best, but do tell your friends and collegues now the evenings are light and the weather is better. It will be easier to pursuade the fair weather walker. The next taster session will be at Bretton Park, on Saturday the 01st of May. It is free but there is a small charge of £2.00 for pole hire." Tel: 01733 766 990 to find out more and how you can join in the Nordic Walking throng.
