British Nordic Walk Fun & Games at the BIG GREEN LUNCH!
On Sunday 3rd June Greeniversity teachers are being offered the chance to take a prime place at the Big Green Lunch. The Big Green Lunch is part of the Green Festival and is its second largest event. This year it will be held at Itter Park on Fulbridge Road between 11am and 6pm the event will be home to a great range of arts and crafts producers, charities, wellbeing ‘tasters’, food stalls and cookery demonstrations.
Right in the middle of Walton and Paston, Itter Park will host the very first Green Festival event in this area of the city. It will be a great way to encourage people to participate with the Greeniversity. This event ties in with Big Lunch events and Jubilee Celebrations nationwide.
Active Edge Solutions joins other Greeniversity teachers who together have a huge variety of skills and what better way to share that wealth of experience than at an event designed to show off the very best of Peterborough’s Green Scene.
You are invited to come along and share in the Best of British Nordic Walk fun and games. Sign up for British Nordic Walk Fun and Games at the Big Green Lunch and help put Peterborough and on the map as the best Big Lunch in the UK!

Poppies blowing | An Armistice Day Nordic Walk
What a unique day, 11/11/11 - We remember those from WW1 and WW2 soldiers who gave their lives without regrets. To remember their bravery and heroism we gave them a special remembrance before our British Nordic Walk began. The theme of our Nordic Walk was poppies blowing in the wind. This was quite appropriate due to the fact a keen wind was blowing the poppies we had so carefully pinned to our coats, kagouls and Jims hat. There we were on Friday the 11 November 2011 poised with emotions full of sadness and feelings for the loss of those oh so very brave soldiers who went before us to keep our green and pleasant land safe.
Usually we begin the Nordic walk with something to warm up the group, today was no exception. Behind a sheltered wall we stood while I recited the beautiful, sorrowful, mournful verses of " In Flanders Fields " By the famous war poet, John McCrae, May 1915. This was followed by 2 minutes of silence of respect and remembrance for those brave soldiers before we began our regular Nordic Walk.
All too soon, we were warming up ready for our Nordic Walk, our pace was purposeful and fairly brisk due to the keen winds. We stopped to pause a little, catch our breath, we chatted to a man and his dog who was keen to join our Nordic Walking club in the future.
We were happy to be alive and enjoyed our Nordic walk despite a strong chill from a stiff breeze that would have been seen our "poppies" blowing in the wind this Remembrance day.

Dear Fitness Fans, you are in for a few fitness festival treats at this years GREEN FESTIVAL 2011 which will be launched on Saturday the 28th of May for 2 weeks of family fun. Over the last few weeks I've been talking to Peterborough Environment City Trust's very own, Penny Fletcher and we've been talking about all the exciting things that are happening at the GREEN FESTIVAL the festival launch day in Cathedral Square, the "stage bus" a bus that transforms into a stage, the Nordic Walking Events and the Trashion Show timetable.
We've been invited to take part in GREEN FESTIVAL 2011 launch on the stage bus, yes you heard right I'll be 'live' on the stage bus on the 28th of May and a second appearance 'live' at the TRASHION show on Thursday the 09th of June and this promises to be a fabulous fiesta of fun and an exciting extravaganza of Trashion on the catwalk. We are delighted to deliver an exciting fun packed event fitness program and i'll be launching Zumba Fitness ® , ViPR™ Fitness and our Green Festival British Nordic Walking program for the fortnight ahead. It doesn't matter how fit, what shape or what age you are, it's taking part that counts.
