So you think you are fit, how is your mind shaping up?

Training for the marathon it's mind over matter or is it? I've seen people beat themselves up mentally because the haven't got the time they wanted even though they have achieved such an amazing feat as running a marathon.  How can this be? I understand that training your mind is like training for a marathon and it can help you gain supreme self confidence in running your life and overcome adversities and limiting beliefs. 

It is time energy and effort that makes the difference from mentally jogging from start to finish to knowing exactly how to improve your brain performance and smash you personal brain best. Simply listening to a hypnotic CD or watching a video doesn' t quite cut it.   To speed up the results some Postive energy from EFT might help or so I have learned in more recent times.  

Time energy and effort like training for the marathon are what it takes to get your mind in it's best possible shape. Knowing how to train the body comes easily when it becomes a way of life.  Now that I have discovered my brain needs to shape up it is the time to start the training plan.   

It was earlier this year when I realised that my mind was not quite where it needs to be in terms of mental fitness but I couldn't quite put my finger on it. Only today I discovered that I really wanted to claim my own mental fitness back.   I have managed to train for a marathon, triathlon, 50+ mile sportives and an Open University degree so by having a new training goal it seems that I can become a better version of me and gain supreme confidence and become unstoppable. 

So how come an OU degree wasn't enough to get my brain in the right shape?   It seems that in spite of having a positive outlook on life and people tell you that you are one of the most motivated people they know suddenly you know that areas of your life are simply not shaping up.  Last year I almost talked myself out of doing something I really wanted to do and several times I have talked myself out of doing things I am quite capable of easily doing and it wasn't until today I realised it might be that my brain needs a bit of training to get it into it's best ever shape. 

Having suffered from more than my fair share of traumatic situations, stress of stress, anxiety and depression which I will not go into here. I have decide to bite the bullet and work on training my brain to make it get it into it's best shape.  It is a different kind of training, and having applied training techniques to my body if neglected it can quickly get out of shape. It can easily lose fitness and gain body fat the same it seems can happen to the mind.  Now if it's to be it's up to me.  So my new mental fitness plan starts as soon as these books arrive from Amazon, here's to shaping up my brain, overcome adversity and running the best race of life. Here are some tried and tested different shoes for Nordic Walking. An ideal is to have a flexible sole shoe like a trainer, that is waterproof and flexible to allow freedom of foot movement. Unlike vibram soles which are very rigid and to not allow freedom of foot movement. On Sunday 3rd June Greeniversity teachers are being offered the chance to take a prime place at the Big Green Lunch. The Big Green Lunch is part of the Green Festival and is its second largest event.  This year it will be held at Itter Park on Fulbridge Road between 11am and 6pm the event will be home to a great range of arts and crafts producers, charities, wellbeing ‘tasters’, food stalls and cookery demonstrations.




Right in the middle of Walton and Paston, Itter Park will host the very first Green Festival event in this area of the city. It will be a great way to encourage people to participate with the Greeniversity. This event ties in with Big Lunch events and Jubilee Celebrations nationwide.

Active Edge Solutions joins other Greeniversity teachers who together have a huge variety of skills and what better way to share that wealth of experience than at an event designed to show off the very best of Peterborough’s Green Scene.

Smart Spring Cleaning...

We are proud to announce our 2012 weight management group is now underway and the group is keen, willing and ready to KickStart a smart Spring Clean as we begin our weight management program cleaning up bodies from toxic overload including me from the 12th of April. One very keen group member has started already! This is to be applauded

The first step to any weight-loss program is to set SMART goals, what will yours be this Spring?  We sat around my lounge last Wednesday evening the group discussed the various goals they wished to achieve by day 30 of the program. 


S is for Specific: What is it you want to achieve? An amount of weight, drop a jean size, get into that favorite dress? Whatever it is note it down and put it where you can see it on a daily basis.

M is for Measurable:  How are you going to measure your success? By recording your before measurements, by how your clothes fit you now and at the end of the period of time. So find a way to measure this for your success. e.g. take our FREE lifestyle analysis this will be a way you can record your findings. 


A is for Achievable :  Is it possible, can you do it or is the goal too wild you will lose impetus before you have reached your target. It needs to be stretching and worth your effort. So dropping a jeans size in most people books is achievable providing you have enough body fat surplus to requirements. However, getting healthier is also an underpinning achievement. 


R is for Realistic: Your goal of course has to be realistic. Losing 3 stone would be a little unrealistic is not unheard of but for many this may be a little unrealistic in the first 28 days. However, if you have plenty of weight to loose then a more realistic goal may be to loose between 8 lbs and 15lbs in weight. In my case a Spring Clean is probably more realistic. 

T is for Time-bound: It is an important step to set a time-bound period for reaching your goal. Without this boundary in place there is no sense of urgency and it would be easy to become distracted from your goal. By setting a date of when you want to reach your goal it helps  you to focus towards your success in our case we have set a time-boundary of 28 days from the 12th of April.
